Assistant BIM Coordinator

Responsibilities
- Assigned to a specific project such as a hospital, office building, hotel, etc.
- Review project Submittals, Specifications, & Drawings for the project.
- Work in a team atmosphere to collaborate and find solutions to conflicts and clashes within the project team and other trades.
- Represent MSS in weekly Coordination Meetings with customers and contractors.
- Draft building systems with MSS Fabrication Database (Pipe & Sheet Metal).
- Set up Revit views for the Project Team's use, including electronic document filing and all other electronic drawings and/or model facets.
- Create shop drawings, sleeve drawings, hanger point drawings as needed for field use.
- Check your work for accuracy before passing it on to others.
- Communicate with engineers, project managers, construction superintendent, etc. to ensure successful completion and implementation of design.
- Receive and transmit documents on behalf of the design team, either via posting to the website or the Internet or hard copy.
- Utilize plotters, printers, and reproduction systems used in-house or on the job site.
- Download drawings and information from the Web, SharePoint, or project websites (FTP, etc.).
- Prepare copies and help make sets of documents for transmittal to other parties.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
- Productively manage weekly and monthly schedule to meet project deadlines.
- Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
Requirements
- Experience preferred with knowledge of mechanical drafting/modeling conventions and standards.
- Experience in the current version of Revit software.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical drawings and specifications and experience in reading 2D plans, electronically or hard copy required.
- Knowledge in Autodesk Navis Works, BIM 360 Glue, and working knowledge of 3D layout and design preferred.
- Construction experience preferred.
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- 2-year technical degree preferred.
- Some overtime is required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position and active participation in meetings.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently, changing priorities as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Random drug testing is required.
Physical Demands
- Constant sitting, walking short distances, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above and/or below shoulder, handling/grasping documents or office equipment.
- Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone.
- Vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data.
- Repetitive motions for computer equipment use.
- Lift 25 lbs. occasionally, 5-10 lbs. frequently to lift/carry/move objects, files, and documents.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an open office environment with conditioned air and bright lights.

MSS will provide training for basic Revit operations and other MEP Fabrication programs used. Must successfully pass a background check & drug test.
