About the role

The University of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position within the Science Education program area in the School of Teaching and Learning.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a robust line of research
  • Teach and advise master’s and doctoral students
  • Contribute to a nationally recognized and growing graduate program
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary faculty, students, and other stakeholders
  • Vigorously pursue external funding to enhance research activities
  • Publish in significant, high-impact refereed journals
  • Advise, mentor, and engage graduate students in research
  • Teach courses (face-to-face, online)
  • Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and profession

Requirements

  • Doctorate or concentration in science education or academic discipline relevant to STEM education
  • Record of scholarship as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at professional conferences, commensurate with experience
  • Experience or strong interest in working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environment
  • Excellence in teaching and/or mentoring students in higher education contexts
  • Ability to positively contribute to the national visibility of a science education program
  • Experience designing and delivering high-quality instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats
  • Record of effectively mentoring graduate students
  • Leadership in interdisciplinary R&D teams
  • Knowledge and use of a variety of research methodologies
  • Active engagement with and/or leadership in science education professional organizations
  • K-12 teaching and/or supervisory experience in the United States

Qualifications

  • Evidence of a well-articulated research agenda focusing on high-impact topics in science or STEM education

    This 9-month faculty appointment will begin in August 2026 and includes the possibility of summer employment.

    Pay

    Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Schedule

    The successful applicant for the tenure-track position is expected to maintain a systematic research program, seek external research funding, contribute to the instruction of graduate students, and recruit and mentor doctoral students.
