About the Role

This position is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients of the health centers. Duties will be a combination of patient care, research, and teaching activities. This position is on-site only.

Responsibilities

• Teaching (15%)
  • Actively precept as a teaching physician to fellows, residents, and medical students doing rotations in the Support Team for Addiction Recovery Treatment (START) clinic setting.
  • Actively precept as a teaching physician to fellows, residents, and medical students doing addiction consults in hospital settings.
  • Teach patient care aspects of substance use disorders, including team-based care, doctor-patient relationship, professionalism, ethical and legal considerations, billing, and coding.
  • Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the addiction fellowship and residency program.
• Service (80%)
  • Provide direct patient care to patients in the START Clinic.
  • Provide addiction consultation to patients in hospital settings.
  • Attend faculty meetings and resident conferences.
  • Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities.
  • Provide emergency services to patients as needed, including those identified as having no primary care physician.
  • Maintain active membership in specialty societies.
  • Serve on Center-wide Committees, as assigned.
  • Serve on school and department committees, as assigned.
  • Participate in community boards and outreach projects.
• Research (5%)
  • Complete 2 quality activities every 5 years (per RRC requirements).
  • Attendance/presentations at national professional meetings.

Requirements

• Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
• Board Certified in either Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Psychiatry at time of hire.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in addiction medicine at time of hire.
• Licensed in the State of Illinois to practice medicine at time of hire.

Pay

The budgeted annual salary range is $234,000 to $257,400, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience, and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
