About the Role
The Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at ranks commensurate with experience. Successful candidates will develop dynamic, externally funded research programs leading to national and international recognition and demonstrate excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The department seeks candidates with research strengths in:
- Energy-related research (especially sustainable/renewable energy and energy systems engineering)
- The interface between chemical engineering and medicine
- Advanced manufacturing
- Electrochemical science and engineering
Candidates with theoretical, computational, and/or experimental focus in these fields are welcome. Applicants are encouraged to indicate how they will incorporate AI into their educational and research goals.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field
- Ability to teach core chemical engineering courses
About the Department
The Department of Chemical Engineering has grown significantly, with 25 faculty members, approximately 60 undergraduate students per class level, and over 75 graduate students. It fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and works closely with:
- Energy & Geoscience Institute

- University Hospital and School of Medicine
- Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI)
- Nuclear Engineering Program
Faculty have access to extensive core research facilities, including a state-of-the-art nanofabrication facility, surface analysis core, and advanced biomanufacturing resources. The Center for High Performance Computing provides computational resources, technical support, and training for simulation science.
