About the role

The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The faculty member reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Teaching responsibilities include presentation of didactic and clinical education to predoctoral students, postgraduate residents, and peers in multiple venues. This position is Non-Tenure Track.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching / Instruction - 55% - Evaluate Oral Maxillofacial Surgery residents and undergraduate students, patient and education encounters/experiences. Present didactic and clinical education information to students, faculty and peers in multiple venues as it pertains to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Clinical / Patient Care - 30% - Practice of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in clinical/hospital setting including coverage of hospital call.
  • Scholarship - 5% - Professional development activities. Continuing education, presentation preparation.
  • Service - 10% - Public and Professional service. Voluntary community service and research development involvement.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS/DMD degree from an ADA accredited dental school;
  • Graduate of a CODA accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program;
  • American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) eligible;
  • US dental license and eligibility for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interest In research and scholarship in the specialty of OMFS;
  • Graduate of a CODA-accredited OMFS/MD combined program;
  • Three years of clinical experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
