Duties and Responsibilities
1. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor is a member of the Department of Community Dental Sciences. In this role, the individual will provide guidance, monitoring, and direct clinical supervision to pre-doctoral students and support the goals of the department.
2. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor is expected to become familiar with and adopt the prevention and treatment philosophies of the department in the areas of operative dentistry, prosthodontics, preliminary endodontic procedures, and basic exodontia.
3. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will assist in special needs, urgent and emergency care, and the Graduate General Practice Residency clinics to ensure that clinical procedures across disciplines are performed in accordance with the Clinic Policy Manual and program policies. This role includes the management and treatment of patients with complex medical histories.
4. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor and will promote comprehensive patient care, serving as a clinical mentor and dentist role model. They are responsible for implementing and adhering to all clinical policies and are expected to model the highest degree of professionalism in oral health care.
5. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will also provide direct patient care, particularly in cases where students are unable to achieve an acceptable clinical result or when treatment needs to be expedited, including urgent and emergency situations.
6. The Clinical Assistant Professor is expected to participate in training and calibration programs and to provide student clinical assessment based on such calibration.
Other Experience and Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high quality research.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching.
