About Us

Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical, and population research related to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and dementia. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement clinical trials as a Medical Investigator or Principal Investigator.
• Oversight of clinical trials, performance of safety medical reviews, and participation in the development of clinical trials.
• Oversee the medical aspects of clinical research projects initiated by non-physician scientists at Pennington Biomedical.
• Develop and publish research in high impact journals in endocrinology and metabolism.
• Collaborate with other PIs at Pennington Biomedical and participate in scholarly activities including grant reviews, professional societies, and presentations at meetings.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO
• 3-5 years post-medical residency
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
• Board Certification in Endocrinology or Obesity Medicine preferred
• Experience in a research setting, implementation of clinical trials for investigational drugs and/or biologics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a research setting, implementation of clinical trials for investigational drugs and/or biologics
• Strong oral, written communication and presentation skills
