Assistant Professor - Medical Laboratory Science

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Farmingdale State College is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position.

About the Role

The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. The service component of the workload includes student advising and participation on committees. The completion of a doctoral degree is required for tenure.

Responsibilities

• Teach in multiple formats including hybrid, online and traditional face-to-face classes.
• Have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications.
• Pursue external funding for research.
• Participate in student-centered service activities.
• Promote civic engagement with the College's many community partners.

Requirements

• An earned Master's Degree or higher in health science, education, or field related to laboratory medicine from a regionally accredited institution.
• ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) /Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license.
• Three or more years clinical laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• An earned Doctorate in health, education or a field related to laboratory medicine from a regionally accredited institution.
• Expertise as a Generalist in the field of laboratory medicine.
• Experience as an instructor in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Academic teaching experience.

Pay

SALARY (Master's): $72,500 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $76,500 TOTAL Total Compensation.
SALARY (Doctorate): $75,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $79,000 TOTAL Total Compensation.

Schedule

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position. For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, October 23, 2025, and ending Saturday, November 1, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
