Position Summary
The Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure or tenure-track position in the Department of Strings in Double Bass. The successful candidate will have an extensive and successful background as a performer and teacher at the highest national and/or international level, will be able to work effectively with faculty colleagues, and will be able to inspire students in a professionally-oriented educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach double bass students in all degree and diploma programs, including freshmen through doctoral levels.
- Teach studio class and possible teaching of orchestral repertoire class.
- Participate in departmental meetings, recruitment activities, and auditions.
- Serve on doctoral committees and recital hearing committees.
- Engage in other department activities, such as faculty recitals, outreach activities, master classes, and service on Jacobs School of Music committees.
Qualifications
- Extensive performing and teaching experience at the very highest levels of the profession.
- Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent training required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Comparable professional experience will also be considered.
