About the Role

The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington seeks candidates for a tenure or tenure-track faculty position in the Woodwind Department specializing in Bassoon. The ideal candidate will have national and international recognition as both a performer and pedagogue across diverse settings.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a studio of undergraduate- and graduate-level bassoon students.
  • Teach studio classes and reed-making classes.
  • Coach chamber ensembles.
  • Teach orchestra literature, pedagogy, and other related courses (as needed).
  • Participate in departmental meetings, recruitment activities, and auditions.
  • Serve on doctoral committees and recital hearing committees.
  • Engage in faculty recitals, outreach activities, master classes, and service on Jacobs School of Music committees.

Requirements

  • Established or growing reputation with broad professional experience.
  • Ability to work successfully with gifted and advanced university-level students.
  • Master’s degree in music (or equivalent outstanding professional experience).
