Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (HS Clinical, Clinical X, In-Residence, Adjunct) Vascular and Endovascular Surgery: VA Service Chief
This position is a joint appointment: 75% time at the VA and 25% time at UCSD. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
About the role
The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, seeks to recruit a vascular and endovascular surgeon with a focus on research and clinical care in advanced open and endovascular surgery. The selected candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows; conduct independent research; and oversee all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
Responsibilities

- Conduct independent research in vascular and endovascular surgery
- Provide clinical patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
- MD or equivalent degree
- Board eligible or board certified in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
- Completed, or on track to complete, a 0+5 or 5+2 fellowship program in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
- Eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California
Preferred qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience teaching residents and fellows in vascular surgery
- Track record of independent research and publications
- Experience providing clinical patient care
Pay
The base pay range for this position is $350,000 – $500,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
