Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Surgery – Genome Editing Delivery Expert
About the role
The UCSF Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research (Broad Center) and the Department of Surgery invite applications for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position is focused on accelerating the clinical implementation of genome editing strategies, with a particular emphasis on developing and optimizing non-viral delivery modalities such as lipid nanoparticles.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a thriving independent research program
- Collaborate with other members of the stem cell and gene therapy communities at UCSF
- Contribute to teaching, mentoring, and training in one or more UCSF graduate programs, such as Biomedical Sciences (BMS) and Developmental and Stem Cell Biology (DSCB)
- Be an active participant in the Department’s residency training and educational programs
Requirements
Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, a productive research background, and recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate evidence of research excellence, strong communication skills, and strength in teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate will become a member of one or more UCSF graduate programs and contribute to the school's mission.
Skills
Experience with genome editing techniques and disease mechanisms across all organs, as well as expertise in non-viral delivery modalities like lipid nanoparticles, is highly desirable.
Benefits
This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
Pay
The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,900 - $319,800, based on rank and step.
Schedule
The faculty appointment will be in the School of Medicine, with a primary appointment in the Department of Surgery and a secondary appointment in the Broad Center, with laboratory space in the Regeneration Medicine Building on the Parnassus Campus.
