Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Surgery – Adult Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Surgical Co-Director of the Complex Aortic Surgery Program

Position description

The Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco, is seeking an outstanding adult cardiothoracic surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care and expertise in aortic surgery and management of complex aortic disease. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible or have completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the time of hire. Experience in advanced techniques in aortic surgery as well as endovascular therapies is required.

About the role

The selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate clinical leadership through the delivery of the state of the art, high-quality patient-centered care across all aspects of aortic surgery, enhance patient access and develop pathways to care for patients with some of the most complex aortic diseases, develop a robust, data-driven program of quality assurance and enhancement that is unrivaled, adhere to regulatory and safety standards, lead efforts to increase volumes through outreach and marketing collaboration, develop a strategic plan for the growth of the aortic surgery program in alignment with UCSF mission, vision, and values, and champion application of innovative, cutting-edge technology and treatments.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Board certified/board eligible or completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery
• Experience in advanced techniques in aortic surgery as well as endovascular therapies
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Research productivity and protected time for research
• A proven track record and publications, clinical research, and national recognition
• Recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students

Benefits

This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Pay

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $149,700 - $393,200.
