Position Summary

The WSYMCA is seeking Assistant Youth Group Leaders to assist Youth Group Leaders in supervising children in a state licensed out-of-school time program. This role focuses on providing a quality experience aligned with YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in supervision of a group of children.
  • Supports academic learning through remote assistance for students (if applicable).
  • Adheres to YMCA and state standards including safety and cleanliness.
  • Attends staff meetings and training.
  • Supports DEIB initiatives and promotes equity, diversity, belonging, and inclusion.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
  • Works at special events and vacation week programs as needed.
  • Responds appropriately to emergencies and first aid/cpr situations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Ability to provide direct care to children while enforcing health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to support children with remote learning tasks.
  • Commitment to anti-racist work and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire.
  • EEC training/registration prior to hire.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups and communities.
