Job Summary

The Assistant Group Leader assists the School Age Site Coordinator in supervising the program and maintaining a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for children. They also uphold the Old Colony Y's mission and employee code of conduct.

Program Responsibility

  • Maintain EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
  • Implement program curriculum according to EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
  • Avoid and report inappropriate behavior of children.
  • Plan and implement Fun/Food Curriculum, Y Chat, and BOKS.
  • Maintain QRIS standards.
  • Communicate with parents, school personnel, and potential clients.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Keep attendance records and reports.
  • Participate in staff meetings and asset/school age curriculum meetings.
  • Meet with the School Age Site Coordinator as needed.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with school or other site-specific personnel.

Fiscal Responsibilities

  • Achieve maximum enrollment.
  • Assist with Annual Campaign and other fund-raising events.
  • Adhere to fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders and employee expenses.

Facility/Housekeeping Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.
  • Address facility issues promptly.

Interdivisional and Community Responsibility

  • Participate on assigned committees and promote Y programs.
  • Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will work early morning, late nights, and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Understanding of Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker.
