The Opportunity

The Assistant Account Manager plays a crucial role in the Employee Benefits service by ensuring clients receive the necessary support to manage their insurance policies. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurance carriers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Makes initial request for plan renewals from carriers.
  • Gathers and prepares census data.
  • Assists with the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Assists with Open Enrollment meetings and materials.
  • Maintains accurate and organized account files by documenting conversations and updating computer systems.
  • Aids clients with billing issues, including auditing and reconciliation.
  • Obtains post-enrollment numbers for each plan.
  • Prepares Annual Legal Notices.
  • Facilitates updates to HR Advocacy Tool, Legal Compliance Resources, and Wellness value adds.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED; college degree preferred (2-4 years of related benefits experience or equivalent combination of education & experience).
  • Life & Health insurance license or willingness to obtain within first 6 months.
  • Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Critical Thinking: ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.
  • Ability to respond to customer needs, solicit feedback, and handle difficult situations.
  • Confidence and demeanor to interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and analyze problems.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Primarily stationary position for the majority of the workday.
  • Frequent communication with colleagues and clients in person and on the phone.
  • Constantly operates computers and office machinery.
  • Sometimes moves around inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
