Reports to: High School Activities Director

About the Role

The assistant cheerleading coach assists in promoting sportsmanship that helps students acquire the basic attributes of good citizenship. The coach supports the development of wholesome school spirit, loyalty to their school and team, and a cooperative spirit between the student body, faculty, and school administration.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the information contained in the Student Activities Program Procedures Guide and the implementation of its policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Complete MSHSAA rules meeting as required.
  • Assist in organizing, scheduling, and attending all assigned practices.
  • Assist with supervising the fitting and ordering of uniforms.
  • Assist in supervising cheerleaders at all High School home football games, basketball games, pep rallies, and other home activities to which cheerleaders are assigned.
  • Assist in preparation for competitions as directed by the Head Coach.

Requirements

  • Certification: Missouri Teaching Certificate or MSHSAA-approved coaches' education program.
  • Prior experience as a cheerleading sponsor is preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test satisfactory to the Board of Education.
  • Understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Prolonged sitting and standing; stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Work in stressful and hectic environments with frequent interruptions.
  • Handle multiple tasks and irregular hours, including some travel.
  • Physical and emotional endurance for long and irregular hours.
  • Regular and consistent attendance and physical presence at the job.

Compensation

This is an annual appointment with a stipend paid for the fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
