About the role
The Assets Protection Team Leader at Target is responsible for leading a security culture, implementing daily/weekly workload priorities, responding to theft incidents, and partnering with store business leaders. This role requires a dynamic individual who can lead a team, manage schedules, and address shortages.
Responsibilities
- Deliver guest experience commitments and ensure consistent operations.
- Observe and provide feedback to team members, hold them accountable, and recognize great moments.
- Review and manage area metrics, identify opportunities, and align team on the right behaviors.
- Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests.
- Influence and validate physical security and safety processes during store response and emergency situations.
- Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.
- Anticipate staffing needs and support talent planning.
- Identify theft and shortage trends, and support leaders in developing tactics to reduce shortages and drive profitable sales.
- Work a flexible schedule aligned with guest and business needs, including early morning/overnight shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Implement and follow up on operational changes as directed by your direct leader.
- Support store leadership on operational shortage priorities.
- Order merchandise protection devices as needed, manage the allocated budget, and adhere to best practices.
- Communicate AP priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
- Build relationships inside and outside Target, including with district and store leaders and law enforcement.
- Ensure the store maintains Target’s reputation and collaborates with retail organization partners to enhance security.
- Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
- Support team onboarding and learning, and close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experience.
- Model and execute physical security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
- Address store needs, including emergency situations, regulatory visits, and other peak shopping times.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old or older.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
- Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Qualifications
- Must have access to all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Must interpret instructions, reports, and information.
- Must climb up and down ladders.
- Must apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
- Must scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds without additional assistance.
- Must work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, closing shifts, and other peak shopping times.
- Must remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Pay
The starting pay range for this position per hour is $21.25 - $23.25. The full pay range for this position per hour is $21.25 - $36.15. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience, and certifications.
Schedule
The role requires a flexible schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning/overnight shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
