Starting pay range per hour: $23.25 – $25.25. Full pay range per hour: $23.25 – $39.50. Pay is based on factors such as labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the role
Assets Protection (AP) teams keep guests, team members, and the Target brand secure, mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and building relationships with store leaders and public safety officials.
Responsibilities
- Deliver guest‑experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring, and Friendly environment.
- Train and hold team members accountable for Target’s guest experience and operational standards.
- Observe, provide feedback, and recognize great guest‑experience moments.
- Review guest, financial, and team metrics; identify opportunities and drive results.
- Support store sales and profitability by ensuring product availability.
- Engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
- Develop and execute physical‑security and safety processes, including crisis response and event security plans.
- Educate teams on emergency preparedness and physical‑security procedures.
- Coach, develop, and lead hourly team members; manage interviewing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
- Anticipate staffing needs, create schedules aligned to security and theft patterns, and adjust as needed.
- Identify theft and shortage trends; develop tactics to reduce shortage and protect merchandise.
- Prevent, identify, and resolve external theft incidents; conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy.
- Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed.
- Educate store leadership on merchandise‑protection best practices and audit execution.
- Order and manage merchandise‑protection devices within budget guidelines.
- Communicate AP priorities to team members, peers, and leadership.
- Maintain relationships with district/store leaders and law enforcement.
- Collaborate with retail partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security.
- Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions; support onboarding and training.
- Model ethical conduct, compliance, and a safety culture; hold team accountable.
- Serve as first responder for in‑store safety incidents and execute Target’s procedures.
- Lead safety‑program routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations.
- Participate in legal proceedings as needed to represent Target.
- Address store needs such as emergencies and regulatory visits.
- Perform all other duties based on business needs.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet any state or local licensure and legal requirements for the position.
- Previous retail and/or loss‑prevention experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead, hold others accountable, and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency with multiple‑frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload and priorities.
- Welcoming, helpful attitude and effective communication skills.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, lift/move merchandise up to 40 lb, and remain mobile throughout shifts.
- Flexibility to work variable schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
- Reliable and prompt attendance.
Schedule
Variable work schedule based on security and theft patterns, including early‑morning/overnight shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours are not guaranteed to be 40 per week and may fluctuate according to business needs.
