Assets Protection Specialist - South San Joaquin County

About the role

The Assets Protection Specialist plays a crucial role in keeping guests, team members, and the brand secure. This position focuses on reducing shortages, preventing theft and fraud, and ensuring product availability for guests.

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find items, and resolving issues.
• Use surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe.
• Monitor guests and identify potential theft risks using Target's video surveillance system.
• Implement Target's Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortages.
• Properly and effectively document cases.
• Identify strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehend subjects.
• Identify theft trends by leveraging technology and surveillance tactics.
• Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
• Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity.
• Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policies and procedures.
• Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
• Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
• Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
• Effective communication skills
• Work both independently and with a team
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Qualifications

• Must be able to climb up and down ladders
• Must be able to apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
• Must be able to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds without additional assistance from others
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); must come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks
• Must be capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
• Must be able to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)

Pay

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $26.75 - $28.75. The full pay range for this position per hour is $26.75 - $45.50. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications.

Schedule

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
