About the role
The Assets Protection Specialist role at Target is designed to empower team members to protect guests, team members, and the brand. This role involves using surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep everyone safe and secure, reducing shortages, and preventing theft and fraud.
Responsibilities
- Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find what they need, and resolving issues.
- Support total store sales, guest service, and increase profitability by ensuring product availability.
- Resolve theft by using good judgment and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while adhering to AP policies and procedures.
- Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
- Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
- Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity.
- Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
- Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
- Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
- Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
- Effective communication skills
- Work both independently and with a team
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds without additional assistance
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays)
- Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements
Skills
- Surveillance and intelligence-led tactics
- Target's video surveillance system
- Implementing Target's Assets Protection practices and routines
- Properly and effectively documenting cases
- Identifying strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehension
- Understanding and appropriately using video systems to monitor theft activity

- Communicating with public safety officials and law enforcement

Pay
The starting pay range for this position per hour is $23.50 - $25.50. The full pay range for this position per hour is $23.50 - $39.95. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications.
Schedule
This role requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
