About the role

The Assets Protection Specialist plays a crucial role in keeping guests, team members, and the brand secure. This role involves monitoring guests for potential theft risks, implementing Target's Assets Protection practices, and resolving theft issues.

Responsibilities

  • Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find items, and resolving issues.
  • Use surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe.
  • Monitor guests using Target's video surveillance system to identify potential theft risks.
  • Implement Target's Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage.
  • Properly and effectively document cases.
  • Identify strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehend subjects.
  • Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity.
  • Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
  • Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
  • Effective communication skills
  • Work both independently and with a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds without additional assistance from others
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)

Pay

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.25 - $26.25. The full pay range for this position per hour is $24.25 - $41.25. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications.

Schedule

This role requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
