Assets Protection Specialist
About the role
The Assets Protection Specialist plays a crucial role in keeping guests, team members, and the brand secure. This role involves using surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe, reducing shortages, and preventing theft and fraud.
Responsibilities
- Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find what they need, and resolving issues.
- Support total store sales, guest service, and increase profitability by ensuring product availability.
- Resolve theft by using good judgment and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while adhering to AP policies and procedures.
- Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
- Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
- Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity.
- Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
- Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
- Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
- Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
- Effective communication skills
- Work both independently and with a team
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Qualifications
- Must be able to climb up and down ladders
- Must be able to apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
- Must be able to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds without additional assistance from others
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); must come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts, and take required meal and rest breaks
- Must be capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
- Must be able to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)

Pay
The starting pay range for this position per hour is $21.25 - $23.25. The full pay range for this position per hour is $21.25 - $36.15. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience, and certifications.
Schedule
This role requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift lengths may vary.
