About the role

The Assets Protection Specialist plays a crucial role in keeping guests, team members, and the brand secure. This position focuses on reducing shortages, preventing theft and fraud, and ensuring product availability for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find what they need, and resolving issues.
  • Monitor guests and identify potential theft risks using Target's video surveillance system.
  • Implement Target's Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortages.
  • Properly and effectively document cases.
  • Identify strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and conduct apprehensions.
  • Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
  • Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
  • Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity.
  • Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
  • Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays).
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $25.00 - $27.00. The full pay range for this position per hour is $25.00 - $42.50.

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications.

Schedule

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
