About the role
Join Goldman Sachs' Alternative Capital Markets team in New York City. As an Associate, you will help establish and manage relationships with external managers, source, diligence, and originate new alternative investment offerings to meet client demand and address current market opportunities. You will also serve as an alternative investment strategist, providing insights on private market trends and opportunities, and lead marketing efforts for alternative investment offerings across various client segments and regions.
Responsibilities
- Help establish and manage GS ACM relationships with external managers, including new product development and coordination of external sales professionals.
- Source, diligence, and originate new alternative investment offerings to meet client demand and address current market opportunities.
- Help provide input on ACM sales strategy across client segments, advising on growth strategies for new offerings/solutions, and develop segment-specific fundraising strategies.
- Lead marketing of alternative investment offerings for buyout across GS client segments and regions, including managing overall fund-raising activity, developing marketing collateral/pitch, and engaging advisors/clients by organizing road shows/events/campaigns.
- Lead client portfolio reviews, including alternative portfolio analysis/implementing guidance, performance attribution, and fund commentary.
- Drive education of alternative investment themes and portfolio implementation for all GS client segments and regions by coordinating across ACM, GS CIO, GS investment teams, and external managers to provide best-in-class thought leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Deep understanding of financial markets and investment instruments
- 3+ years experience in wealth management, asset management, investment banking, or private equity
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sophisticated and tactful client manager who can effectively manage the entire investor lifecycle
- Strong ability to multi-task, with an ability to manage multiple projects with different deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment and across group functions
- Solid work ethic, motivation level, and strong attention to detail
- SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 (must be obtained within 3 months)

- Experience in alternative investments
- Understanding of private equity, growth/venture capital, private credit, private real estate, hedge funds, co-investments, and impact private investing
- Ability to manage and execute on multiple projects simultaneously

Pay
The expected base salary for this New York, NY, United States-based position is $85,000 - $160,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
