About the role

The Lead Analyst, Balance Sheet Management provides reporting, decision support, and complex financial analysis around balance sheet management strategy and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and develop reporting on interest rate risk, liquidity, investments, derivatives, and balance sheet management analysis for the Asset Liability Management Team and board ALCO review. Ensure proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Report gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to mitigate member impact and risk. (30%)
  • Develop complex ad hoc analyses and financial models to support financial decisions in investments, funding, pricing, and asset liability management. Leverage analytical expertise, understanding of data sources, and knowledge of business performance and strategies to support growth, drive and monitor results, and eliminate or mitigate potential risks. (30%)
  • Translate ALM and other modeling results into meaningful balance sheet strategies through what-if scenario analysis. Support modeling assumption development for all models and other modeling or forecasting responsibilities as needs arise. (20%)
  • Administer, maintain, and refine the internal funds transfer pricing system. (10%)
  • Handle special projects and other duties as assigned. (10%)

  • Financial and analytical reports or projections based on internal and external data sources are accurate and delivered timely for use by the Board, management, and regulators.
  • Financial goals and objectives are consistently met or exceeded, and budgets are managed effectively.
  • Projects, priorities, and goals are executed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner while adhering to department and organizational processes.
  • A system of appropriate internal controls is in place and followed to ensure reliance on financial information.
  • Provide extraordinary service (iNPS) and maintain a high degree of responsiveness among internal partners and peers.
  • Assigned activities are conducted efficiently, generally error-free, and completed following appropriate policies, procedures, operational controls, and compliance controls. All required compliance training is completed timely.
  • Losses, errors, and risks are controlled and mitigated by adhering to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, internal policies, and internal controls/operating procedures.
  • Commit to meeting people where they are to establish relationships built on trust, empathy, and compassion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field is required; Master’s Degree (e.g., MBA in finance or equivalent) or CFA preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in financial institution asset liability management, treasury, or financial analysis.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex analytical concepts/recommendations across multiple organizational levels, including board level, senior executive team, business unit management teams, outside vendor partners, or regulatory/audit personnel.
  • Proven experience creating robust, repeatable, and proven analysis from both existing data and integration of new sources.
  • Experience in SQL and skilled in querying, reporting, and data visualization tools. Ability to understand complex data, their relationships, and define solutions.
  • Extraordinarily proficient in the use of Excel or other analytical tools.
