Assembly Technician
The Assembly Technician plays a crucial role in Fillauer's manufacturing operations, a global leader in orthotic and prosthetic innovation. Fillauer supports a comprehensive product line including composite and prosthetic components, orthotic devices, and various tools, equipment, and materials.
About the Role
You'll assemble composite and prosthetic components with precision and adhere to quality standards. You'll inspect assemblies for defects, ensure compliance with established standards, and escalate quality issues promptly. You'll use assembly software and production tracking systems to document progress and maintain accurate records. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve assembly challenges and implement process improvements. Maintaining organized workstations and managing inventory are also key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assemble composite components and orthotic/prosthetic devices according to specifications, work instructions, and quality standards
- Inspect assemblies for defects, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with established standards; identify and escalate quality issues with agility
- Use assembly software and integrated production tracking systems to record work progress, log quality findings, and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to solve assembly problems creatively and implement process improvements
- Maintain organized, clean workstations; manage inventory of parts and materials with attention to detail
- Respond with agility to changing production schedules, priorities, and customer requirements
- Provide feedback on process barriers; demonstrate curiosity about how our systems and workflows impact assembly quality and efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through active participation in problem-solving discussions and team projects
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of assembly, production, or hands-on technical experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality; ability to work to precise specifications
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable; comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic computer skills and comfort with software systems and digital documentation
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively and follow instructions
- Problem-solving mindset; willingness to ask questions and think through assembly challenges
Additional Success Factors
- Experience with composite manufacturing or orthotic/prosthetic device assembly
- Familiarity with ERP or cloud-based production tracking systems
- Experience using hand tools and precision measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.)
- Demonstrated success in continuous improvement or quality initiatives
- Intellectual curiosity about manufacturing processes and how components integrate into final products
