About the role
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking an Assembly Specialist Manufacturing Manager to oversee manufacturing activities on the S15 Assembly Line in Kinston, NC. The role involves technical leadership, monitoring production, ensuring safety, and coordinating with various processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and oversight to production activities and monitor the progress of the aircraft through the Station.
- Ensure the importance and company commitment to safety is a priority for all employees.
- Lead the Multi-Functional team in the absence of the Business Unit Leader (PLM).
- Routinely report and update upper level management on aircraft progress and alert colleagues to potential problems and solutions.
- Perform or assign analyses on operational issues, improvements, and other savings initiatives.
- Coordinate and communicate Station activities throughout the line, the management team, and relevant parties.
- Ensure orders and materials are available to guarantee work progress.
- Engage with support staff from Quality, Procurement, and other specialty areas to improve work flow and enhance existing processes.
- Develop manpower forecasts based on workload and necessary skill sets.
- Identify, eliminate, and anticipate problems in the manufacturing process.
- Participate and lead Station in achieving annual objectives such as CI, Quality Gates, and specific KPIs.
- Ensure the completion of specified work packages in compliance with costs, quality specifications, and customer expectations.
- Manage A/C documentation for handover to the next Station.
- Ensure daily attendance and time management of the assigned employee group.
- Ensure all value-added time is approved in the work-booking system.
- Support implementation of AOS improvement activities.
- Master all elements of the Performance Management Center to include Production Pace Control (PPC), SQCDP boards, Daily Quality Gate, and Practical Problem Solving processes.
- Provide mentorship and development plans to the workforce for career progression.
- Manage corrective actions with employees as appropriate.
- Be involved in the Crisis Management Team and lead the team if needed.
- Act as an escalation point during 2nd shift and off shift working times.
- Provide support to the workforce in case of emergencies.
Requirements
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Aviation (Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes, Production methods, etc.)
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Aviation
- Proven leadership experience
- Knowledge of Quality / Logistics rules in aviation manufacturing
- Effective communication skills on different levels
- Structured way of working and ability to handle a volume of complex information
- Industry safety practices and procedures
- 5% domestic/international travel
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of Leadership experience in Aviation preferred
- Experience in a complex, growing, and dynamic environment with a matrixed reporting structure

Additional Responsibilities

Physical Requirements
- Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens.
- Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
- Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg.
- Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.
- Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
- Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces.
