About the role

Danieli Group, a worldwide leader in the metal industry, seeks a skilled Millwright or Assembly Mechanic to join their team at the Ashland, KY workshop. The Service Center repairs and services Danieli equipment, including mill stands, shears, straighteners, caster oscillators, rollers, mill mandrels, levelers, and gearboxes.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble large industrial gearboxes, shears, and mandrels.
• Reassemble mill equipment to meet Danieli standards.
• Inspect mill equipment using micrometers and other measuring tools.
• Read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Perform basic welding tasks as needed.
• Align machines and equipment using hosts, jacks, hand tools, cranes, square rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Grind equipment to precise dimensions using a grinder.
• Clean equipment to a very high standard.
• Utilize overhead cranes and rigging techniques.
• Lift heavy objects weighing more than 50 lbs.
• Work on the plant floor 90% of the time in a non-climate environment.
• Work overtime in evenings and weekends as required.

Technical Requirements

• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Willingness to use torch cutting equipment and operate small job machinery like drill press, manual lathe, grinder, mig/stick welder.

Physical Demands

• Heavy lifting (more than 50 lbs).
• Plant floor activity 90% of the time.
• Non-climate working environment.
• Occasional overtime required.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in the steel industry is a plus.
