Assembly Mechanic

Position Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand assembly requirements for structural components.
  • Assemble structural components, including beams, frames, panels, brackets, and other structural elements, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Install press fit bushings and force fit bushings. File, fit, hone, ream, drill, tap, saw, burr and adjust.
  • Install structural components into production aircraft ensuring proper alignment and connection.
  • Test assembled structural systems to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair structural malfunctions or defects in assembled systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to identify and resolve design or assembly issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly activities, including component inventory, work orders, and test results.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Physical Demands

  • Limited (0-1 Hrs): Crawling, Lying Down (back, front, side), Forceful grasping
  • Occasional (1-3 Hrs): Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, and supporting up to 35lbs, Bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching.
  • Frequent (3-6 hrs): Exposure to noise, hazardous chemicals, moving parts and occasional exposure to high/exposed places.
  • Frequent: Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 35 lbs, Standing, Reaching, Handling, Turning.
  • Frequent: Standing, Reaching, Handling, Turning.
  • Frequent: Working on elevated and/or uneven surfaces.
  • Use of personal protective equipment for face/eyes and ears may be required.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications

  • Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or structural work.
  • Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently hold or have held a security clearance in the past 24 months.
  • Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Additional Information

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM 837 Collective Bargaining agreement.
  • All new employees, rehires without seniority or transfers from outside of IAM 837 jurisdiction, shall be regarded as probationary during their first one hundred twenty (120) calendar days of employment.
  • Shift: The candidate must be able to work any shift assigned.
  • Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

  • Summary pay range: $24.00/hourly - $51.27/hourly
