About the role
You will supervise operations to ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The role is shop-floor oriented, providing hands-on product and process support to your team every day. You will drive safety, quality, delivery, and morale while continuously improving the assigned department and developing your direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Perform all work safely and in compliance with company policy, local, provincial, and federal regulations, and any collective agreement.
- Communicate, train, guide, and coach employees to meet operational goals and manufacture high-quality products.
- Evaluate interpersonal skills, provide feedback, and recommend methods to improve communication.
- Schedule and assign personnel based on manufacturing demand, adjusting for equipment capacity and material supply to optimize output.
- Assess employee abilities and match them to the required skills for each area of the manufacturing floor.
- Monitor and track output, manufacturing processes, labor efficiencies, direct operating expenses, and quality indicators for assigned cost centers.
- Measure performance and quality, driving positive results in operational Key Process Indicators (KPIs).
- Build working relationships with other departments (Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Planning, Quality) to meet production schedules.
- Meet regularly with the management team to review production results and improvement priorities.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and labor laws.
- Skills in conflict resolution, time management, communication, presentation, organization, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office software suite.
- Ability to use technology, instruments, tools, and information systems effectively.
- Ability to work in a team environment and provide guidance and direction as needed.
- Ability to set direction, make decisions, and oversee operations with minimal supervision.
- Availability to support or operate on off-shifts as required.
- Ability to deliver business results both independently and through others.
