Assembly Inspection Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Assembly Inspection Supervisor to lead inspection excellence across assembly operations at Centrus Energy in Oak Ridge, TN. You will guide a team of skilled inspectors through daily in-process, final, and hold-point inspections, balancing production flow with compliance. This onsite position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a federal background investigation for DOE Q security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of inspectors in executing in-process, final, and hold-point inspections while maintaining production flow and compliance.
• Apply expertise in engineering drawings, GD&T, torque specifications, and acceptance standards to ensure consistency, precision, and workmanship.
• Perform hands-on inspections, including verifying torque tool calibration and conducting dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Validate GD&T features such as flatness, perpendicularity, and concentricity, ensuring traceability and proper assembly progression.
• Oversee cleanliness, fastener installation, adhesives, fit-up, and other critical assembly details.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, document nonconformances, and review inspection data before work progresses.
• Promote proper tool care, calibration practices, and a high-performance inspection environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• U.S. citizenship due to federal contract security requirements.
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation for DOE Q security clearance if required.
• Experience performing assembly or in-process inspections in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and assembly specifications.
• Hands-on experience with torque tools, precision measurement instruments, and inspection documentation systems.
• Familiarity with nonconformance documentation and inspection plans.
• Knowledge of mechanical assembly processes, fasteners, torque sequences, and workmanship standards.

Qualifications

• Technical degree, military technical experience, or a mechanical/manufacturing/quality apprenticeship preferred.
• Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience is a plus.
• Active DOE Q Clearance is preferred.
