On-siteSales$22–$35/hrFull-time
About the role
Sagetech Avionics designs and manufactures low SWaP certified avionics — including transponders, IFF systems, and ACAS/DAA modules — for military and commercial aircraft, operating from our facility in Bingen, WA under an AS9100D Quality Management System. Following a major DoD contract award for the APX-128 advanced IFF system, we are expanding our production team. We are seeking a hands-on Assembly & Test Technician to join our manufacturing floor, working onsite and reporting to the Production Supervisor.
Objectives of this Role
- Build avionics hardware (transponders, IFF units, ACAS/DAA modules) from mechanical components, PCBAs, and harnesses per engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly work instructions.
- Perform hand soldering, wire terminations, and connector crimping to IPC J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
- Conduct dimensional and fit verification using calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges; confirm torque and clearances against engineering tolerances.
- Handle all assemblies per ESD control requirements; maintain product traceability and accurate build records throughout production and prototype activities.
Test & Inspection
- Execute Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) sequences — thermal cycling and vibration — and functional acceptance test procedures (ATPs); monitor units under test and record results per approved procedures.
- Operate bench instrumentation (Digital Multimeter, oscilloscopes, power supplies, RF test equipment) to verify assemblies against acceptance criteria.
- Document nonconformances and test failures; support rework, re-test, and root cause analysis under Engineering and Quality guidance.
Quality & Compliance
- Complete travelers, inspection sign-offs, and work order records accurately in compliance with Sagetech’s AS9100D quality system.
- Handle controlled hardware and technical data in accordance with ITAR/EAR requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; 5+ years of hands-on electronics assembly or production test experience.
- Proficient hand soldering; familiarity with dimensional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers) and basic electrical test equipment (DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes).
- Working knowledge of ESD controls and safe handling of sensitive electronic assemblies.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions; strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Ability to work with modest supervision in a dynamic, evolving production environment.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (ITAR/EAR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense electronics manufacturing experience (AS9100D environment).
- IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610 certification (CIS or CIT).
- Experience with ESS (thermal cycling or vibration screening) or RF/avionics hardware (transponders, IFF, ADS-B).
