About the role

The Assembler III, Electro-mechanical, will perform mechanical, electronic, and general assembly tasks in a fast-paced dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is for individuals with experience in manufacturing, assembly, or operations, or those with a technical background. The role involves working both independently and collaboratively with internal team members, leads, supervisors, and Engineering and technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and follow specific and highly detailed work instructions; suggest improvements for clarity.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple electro-mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Operate and troubleshoot systems, including torque tools, electric drivers, hand tools, specialized equipment, and adhesive dispensers.
  • Identify and correct issues in systems; perform quality and electronic inspections to recognize workmanship defects or component irregularities.
  • Process and make decisions based on job routings.
  • Assist in training others and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and volunteer for related tasks.
  • Work in other functional areas or facilities as needed, including overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams to address root causes of internal and external quality failures, focusing on prevention of customer escapes.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities; maintain work areas and request maintenance as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or related experience, or a combination of education and training.
  • Typically 4–6 years of previous assembly experience preferred, with electrical or mechanical assembly experience.
  • Experience with electric handling and cleaning is preferred.
  • Understanding and knowledge of electronics and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge).
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality.
  • Ability to solder; certification is preferred.
  • Skilled with torque tools and general understanding of their operation and adjustment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and ERP systems; ability to manage job routings and ERP transactions.
  • Ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision; self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a blend of sitting and standing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing; lifting and moving tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, and undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions for at least 50% of the shift.
  • Proficient fine motor skills required, including gripping, reaching, pulling, turning, and using tools to torque fixtures.
  • Constant work with and cleaning of lenses.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and security mandates.
