Job Description

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions
  • Assemble sections of machines to customer specifications; attach unit to assembly, subassembly or frame using various hand and power tools
  • Perform mechanical assembly operations to exacting tolerances; position and align parts using fixtures, jigs and templates; work with rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures, and sprockets
  • Drill, tap, ream, countersink, and spotface bolt holes in parts; file, lap and buff parts to fit; clean and lubricate parts and subassemblies
  • Use measuring instruments to level and align work, detect and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity and parallelism
  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems or support structures and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings using rivets, bolts, and soldering equipment
  • Label, wire and connect switch boxes and control panel terminal boards from basic wiring diagrams
  • Check wiring for proper coding and termination; check for shorts, grounds, and continuity
  • Detect defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor describing in accurate detail to ensure proper corrective actions
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements
  • Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues
  • Regularly and effectively communicate and interact with other team members
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Maintain work area and equipment in clean, orderly and safe manner
