About the role
The Assembler A will align, erect, assemble, fit components of unit, compressor, turbine rotors, stators, bearings and main gas turbine unit (New Make and Repair – Disassemble and Assemble).
Responsibilities
- Align, erect, assemble, fit components of unit, compressor, turbine rotors, stators, bearings and main gas turbine unit (New Make and Repair– Disassemble and Assemble)
- May be required to obtain Overhead Crane Operator License (175/200 ton capacity) and make various crane moves/assemblies, including a variety of turbine components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, material lists, planning and methods specifications, and related shop documents.
- Manually or with jib, floor crane, hoists, etc., position and align rotor or unit components and accessories and drill, ream, dowel, fit, bolt up, etc.
- Make necessary alignments of parts, assemblies, accessories using standard and special mechanical, optical or other devices.
- Apply standard and special measuring devices such as manual gauges, micrometers, calipers, and tape measures, and maintain required quality checks and records
- Perform work on ladders, scaffolding and on floor in fixed open floor workstations and on Gas Turbine main unit.
- Use equipment including assembly stands, fixtures, hand and power tools, miscellaneous pneumatic and electric power wrenches, sanders, and grinders.
- May be assigned to lesser skill assembly and related operational contents.
- Collaborate as part of a team and perform other related tasks as required. May be required to outline the work of others to accomplish tasks as one team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years manufacturing experience with large scale assembly of mechanical and/or electrical components with some exposure to optical and/or laser alignments OR certified technical program with 1+ years experience.
- Skilled in blueprint reading, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments referenced above
Qualifications
Must pass an assembler assessment, background check, and rug screening. Legal authorization to work in the US is required.
Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., wear necessary PPE , climb and work at height, and stand for periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work 2nd shift (3 PM -11 PM).
