Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of physical tasks including operating heavy equipment and machinery, and using power tools and hand tools for applying asphalt products.
- Work quickly, productively, and safely to meet production goals as directed by the Foreman, Superintendent, and Production Manager.
- Operate heavy equipment such as trucks and front-end loaders according to job specifications.
- Follow safety policies and procedures, actively participate in safety meetings, and complete all Company-related training.
- Ensure the job site is safe and traffic is controlled before starting work.
- Communicate effectively with operators and general laborers, coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, and serve as a front-line Company representative.
- Use equipment and assorted hand tools such as rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc., and perform all other general laborer work as needed.
- Report problems and malfunctions to supervisors and shop personnel.
- Maintain a clean job site, pick up all tools and equipment, and secure the site each day.
- Understand material handling and storage in compliance with SDS sheets.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company safety policy, enforce safe work practices, and identify/remediate worksite hazards.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience is preferred.
- Must be fluent in English (able to speak, read, and write).
- Valid driver's license and a clean motor-vehicle record.
- Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
Qualifications
This position is considered a safety-sensitive role and is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations. All employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Skills
Strong communication skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
