Asphalt Groundsperson/Maintenance - 2nd Shift

Dunmore Asphalt, a division of H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a safety-focused, detail-oriented Asphalt Groundperson/Maintenance for the night shift.

About the role

This position involves performing plant maintenance, ensuring clean work areas, and learning plant functions and operations. The ideal candidate will work effectively in a team, take direction from site personnel, and cross-train to learn all aspects of plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Conduct duties in a safe and professional manner
• Maintain plant equipment and facilities
• Keep work areas clean, including catwalks, walkways, and general plant area
• Proactively learn plant functions and operations
• Complete assigned tasks with full knowledge and understanding
• Work collaboratively with all site personnel
• Cross-train to learn all plant jobs and substitute as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as GED) from an accredited institution, or related experience and/or training
• A combination of education and experience may be considered
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to pass a fit test and use appropriate PPE
• Ability to meet physical job requirements (movement, lifting, etc.)
• Maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ months of related experience
• Experience operating heavy equipment, with a strong preference for loader operation
• Experience in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting
• MSHA or other relevant safety certification

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand and walk
• Frequently required to: use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear
• Occasionally required to sit
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Specific vision needs include depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
• Frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; vibration
• Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock
• Noise level is usually loud

Pay

$19–$24 per hour
