Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Asphalt Grader Operator to operate heavy machinery on construction and sitework projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a motor grader safely and efficiently on roadways, parking lot, and site development projects.
- Fine grade aggregate base, subgrade, and other materials in preparation for asphalt paving.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, elevations, and construction plans.
- Establish and maintain proper slopes, crowns, and drainage.
- Work with GPS machine control systems and laser grade equipment when applicable.
- Cookordinate with paving crews to maintain production schedules.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
- Report mechanical issues or equipment damage immediately.
- Perform routine maintenance, including checking fluids, greasing, and cleaning equipment.
- Ensure work areas remain safe and free of hazards.
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, company safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Assist with other construction activities when equipment operation is not required.
- Maintain accurate daily equipment, inspection reports and production documentation as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of motor grader operating experience required in asphalt or heavy civil construction preferred.
- Experience with roadway grading and asphalt base preparation.
- Experience using GPS grade control systems is preferred.
- Strong understanding of equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Ability to read construction plans and grade stakes.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Reliable transportation required.
