Responsibilities
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents to determine project scope and requirements
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for asphalt paving, milling, reclamation, grading, aggregate base, and related roadway and site improvement activities
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates including labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, and indirect project costs
- Develop conceptual, budgetary, negotiated, and hard bid estimates
- Analyze project risks, opportunities, exclusions, and constructability concerns during the asphalt estimating process
- Evaluate production rates, crew requirements, equipment utilization, and material quantities to develop accurate pricing
- Analyze historical project data and production information to improve estimate accuracy and consistency
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of asphalt estimating, paving, grading, or roadway construction experience
- Previous experience with asphalt paving operations, materials, and production methods preferred
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documents
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Pay
$80,000 - $110,000 per year
