ASME Section VIII Pressure Vessel Welder

You’ll join our fabrication team as a code-focused welder specializing in ASME Section VIII, Division 1 pressure vessels. Your craft, precision, and communication keep projects moving from fit-up through inspection and final documentation.

About the role

A day in this role:

  • Start your shift by reviewing drawings and customer specifications.
  • Plan beads, set up for Flux-Cored Arc Welding with back-gouging where required, and coordinate with the Plant Foreman and Assigned Fitter to sequence work efficiently.
  • Document labor, keep your area clean, and prepare each segment for inspection approval throughout the day.
  • Engage with our Internal Quality Control Manager and respond directly to customer site inspectors and the Authorized Inspector’s questions so your work clears every checkpoint without defects.
  • Most tasks are completed with limited supervision—your schedule management and attention to detail are essential.

You report to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding that meets customer requirements, relevant codes, and accepted industry standards.
  • Execute FCAW efficiently with an emphasis on precise back-gouging.
  • Follow all safety regulations and maintain a safe, efficient work style.
  • Record labor accurately and complete project paperwork on time.
  • Clean and present work for inspection after each section.
  • Keep company tools in good working order.
  • Coordinate daily with the Plant Foreman and Assigned Fitter.
  • Communicate with the Internal Quality Control Manager; respond to customer site inspectors and Authorized Inspector inquiries.
  • Work with limited supervision; manage your schedule to deliver on time and defect-free.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated welding capability through Mason’s weld test.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required production weld certifications.
  • 3+ years of vessel fabrication experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1 is a plus.
  • Accurate blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Dependable and punctual work habits.
  • Proficiency in: Driver's License, Troubleshooting Skills, Tape Measure Reading, Forklift Licensed, Crane Operation.
  • High School / GED.
  • Excellent Communication Skills and Blueprint Reading.
