Duties
- Plan and provide direct speech therapy to students with speech, fluency, voice, or language disorders.
- Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with students' ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.
Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree in speech-language pathology or related field
- Valid Texas license as a speech language pathologist or intern granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or having met CFY requirements by ASHA
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Skill in the use of tests and measurements for assessing speech-language disorders; Knowledge of evaluation and remediation of speech, language, and hearing impairments; Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned; Experience in pediatric settings preferred
- Experience: Experience in pediatric settings preferred
Working Conditions
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
- Possible Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
- Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours
