About the role

Vara Chevrolet is seeking a Transmission Technician Specialist to join their service team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in automotive service.

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership guidelines
• Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Must have the ability to disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble a transmission. Simple removal and replacement of a transmission is not sufficient for this position
• Communicate daily with the Service Advisor and keep them informed of the status of the job
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
• Maintain a neat and organized work station
• Thoroughly document all paperwork

Qualifications

• ASE Certified with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• Knowledge in all or most aspects of major automotive repair
• Ability to or willingness to learn to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Dexterity, requiring a steady hand, excellent hand-eye coordination
• Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
• Clean driving record and valid non-suspended driver’s license
• Background check and drug screen required
