ASC RN Pre/Post Op (Full-Time)

Ambulatory Surgery RN

The Iowa Clinic is seeking an experienced Pre/Post OR and Pre/Post Cath Lab Registered Nurse to join their dynamic team. This role is based in a state-of-the-art, 21,000 sq. ft. ambulatory surgery center offering various surgical procedures in an outpatient setting.

• Essential Functions:
• Delivers patient care consistent with established professional nursing standards and surgery center policies and practices.
• Gathers pertinent medical history and provides concise instruction for pre-operative, PACU, and post-operative care in the OR and Cath Lab while maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters and keeping patient flow in mind.
• Observes patients for side effects of anesthesia and monitors patient's level of consciousness throughout the sedation recovery.
• Provides pre-operative and discharge instructions to patients including, but not limited to, diet, activity, medication reconciliation, and obtaining a post-operative appointment, if needed.
• Affirms education is provided to patients and their families regarding post-surgery care at home.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting - Pre/Post Op OR or Pre/Post Cath Lab required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
• BLS and ACLS Required.
