*ASC OR (Operating Room) RN (Full-Time)

A Day in the Life of Ambulatory Surgery Operating Room RN

• Utilizes the nursing process and effective written and verbal communications skills in the provision of safe, effective, high quality nursing services to patient populations.
• Assists physician in performance of procedures through implementation of the perioperative process.
• Assumes responsibility for intra-operative patient safety by acting as the nursing advocate for the patient by; appropriate positioning, confirming the procedure and site, actively participating in the time out, informs surgeon, anesthesiologist and operating room team of any issues or concerns.
• Maintains sterile and aseptic techniques in all areas of the perioperative process.
• Performs all circulating duties with efficiency and speed.
• Performs scrub duties, as necessary.
• Assists in the: set up and clean-up of the operating room, opening of sterile packs, instruments, and supplies.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa
• Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• Mandatory Reporter Certification
• Two years nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required, specialty-specific.
• Ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
