About the role
The Registered Nurse - ASC OR/ARD provides professional nursing care to surgical or endoscopic patients, focusing on total patient-centered care through the nursing process.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and instruct them on changing into appropriate attire.
- Complete pre-operative assessments, document on appropriate chart forms, and administer pre-op orders (medications, IVs).
- Teach patients and significant others about their care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members regarding patient care.
- Assess and monitor patients during Phase I Recovery, complete applicable records, and administer medications as ordered.
- Prepare and restock recovery carts as needed.
- Transfer patients to Phase II Recovery when sufficiently recovered from anesthesia.
- Monitor and assist patients during Phase II Recovery, administer medications as ordered, complete necessary chart forms, and provide discharge instructions.
- Ensure the facility is neat and orderly, restock supplies daily, check crash cart, defibrillator, and medications, and make post-op phone calls as needed.
- Comply with Springfield Clinic's incident reporting policy and procedures, OSHA guidelines, and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Three to five (3-5) years of comparable nursing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Licensure as an RN in the State of Illinois.
- PALS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within six months of employment.
- ACLS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within six months of employment.
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
Skills
- Ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
- Manual dexterity to handle equipment and appliances.
- Stooping, bending, and lifting capabilities.
- Standing and walking for long periods.
- Professional grooming.
