A Day in the Life
This role will be responsible for providing professional nursing support in the ambulatory surgery center by assisting the cardiologist in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures on patients and providing quality nursing care, assessing, and managing patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab, and support interventional radiology as needed.
- Responsible for intra-operative patient safety by acting as the nursing advocate for the patient by; appropriate positioning, confirming the procedure and site, actively participating in the time out, informs physician and team of any issues or concerns.
- Closely monitoring the patient for improvement or complications, administering medications including conscious sedation and assisting the physician.
- Work with diagnostic and interventional catheterization which includes circulating, monitoring, and recording of procedures and emergency management of cardiac patients.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa
- Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life support and Advanced life support
- Two years nursing experience in an acute care hospital
- Cardiology catheterization lab experience
- Ambulatory surgery experience is preferred
