About the Role

The HPE/Aruba Network Engineer will perform LAN/WLAN network design, development, installation/configuration, packaging, testing, implementation, and Tier 3 troubleshooting of multi-vendor network-related equipment in support of government solutions, ranging from single stand-alone to large-scale enterprise environments.

Responsibilities include engineering tasks (designing, developing, configuring, testing, and implementing) for WLAN/LAN task orders involving wireless network solutions in both classified and non-classified environments. The candidate will capture and analyze technical requirements, document detailed system designs, implementation plans, and operations guides, and participate in project and operational meetings. The role also involves providing Tier 3 support using change control processes and serving as a reach-back resource for field engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop existing and new wireless technologies to optimize and maintain DOD, commercial, and corporate networks.
  • Design, configure, implement, test, and troubleshoot Wireless and LAN components and networks.
  • Integrate wireless equipment with current WAN and security infrastructure in collaboration with 3rd party and internal departments.
  • Optimize LAN/WLAN network performance while fulfilling security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption, and intrusion detection (e.g., 802.1x RADIUS Authentication using EAP-TLS).
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and modify network hardware and software.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for LAN/WLAN networks and client devices, including hand-held devices and associated LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Document installed networks, including system designs, operations and implementation guides, and Visio design drawings.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of all wireless hardware and software.
  • Assist in developing project plans, designs, and documentation for future sites and provide technical reach-back to deployed installation teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical area, or an AS/AA or two-year Tech School with 2-5 years of experience, or HS/GED with 5+ years of targeted experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the wireless and network communications industry.
  • Security+ / DoD 8140 certification level IAT-I (must obtain within 3 months of hire).
  • Current HPE/Aruba Professional level certification in at least one of the following (or ability to obtain within 3 months):
    • HPE/Aruba Professional Campus Access
    • HPE/Aruba Professional Data Center
    • HPE/Aruba Professional Switching
    • HPE/Aruba Professional Network Security
    • HPE/Aruba Advanced Product Certified - ClearPass
    • Aruba Certified Switch Professional (ACSP)
  • Familiarity with survey analysis software and equipment.
  • Proficiency with Aruba’s Airwave management platform.
  • Knowledge of DNS & DHCP functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, walk, and climb ladders as required.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.

  • Self-starter with the ability to interact well with internal and external engineers, technicians, and customers.
  • Excellent communication skills for providing daily status updates to supervisors/managers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HPE/Aruba Certified Architect in Campus Access or Data Center.
  • HPE/Aruba Expert Level in Campus Access Mobility, Campus Access Switching, or Network Security.
