About the Role

The Arts For Life Coordinator is responsible for planning, creating, and delivering developmentally appropriate art-based activities for pediatric patients and families. This role provides both individual and group art sessions that support emotional wellbeing and enhance the overall patient experience. The teammate collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary care teams, supports hospital wide events and initiatives, and engages with community partners to strengthen program offerings. Additional responsibilities include accurate charting of patient interactions and the maintenance of program data. All work is performed in accordance with the standards and expectations of Advocate Health Levine Children's Hospital and the North Carolina-based Arts For Life 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate art activities for patients and families in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team—including Child Life, Nursing, Therapies, and other clinical and support services—to ensure art activities are delivered safely and appropriately within the patient care environment.
  • Adhere to Arts For Life standards for communication, meetings, collaborative programming, and professional conduct.
  • Support and participate in hospital wide events, special programs, and family centered initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance program offerings, secure resources, and expand creative opportunities for patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charting of patient interactions in accordance with hospital and departmental documentation standards.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and supports Arts For Life's team of volunteers and interns to reach more patients and deliver more services.
  • Collect program participation data and support reporting needs for Arts For Life and hospital partners.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive creative environment.
  • Adhere to and represent the values, policies, and standards of Advocate Health Levine Children's Hospital and Arts For Life.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in art, education-related field or equivalent knowledge.
  • At least one year's work experience in the field of healthcare or related art programming.
  • Knowledge of a variety of art mediums and techniques, along with a basic understanding of child development to ensure activities are developmentally appropriate.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills required to facilitate both one-on-one and group sessions effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, and the capacity to build positive relationships with patients, families, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately document patient interactions and program data.
  • Creativity, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and an understanding of safety and infection prevention practices within a healthcare environment.
  • Work requires walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and carrying. Must be able to lift and support 20 pounds of weight.
  • Essential technical, as well as fine and gross motor skills required related to performing duties of art-based activities as well as documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • At least three years of work experience in the field of healthcare or related art programming preferred.

Pay & Schedule

  • Pay Range: $26.55 - $39.85
  • Schedule: M-F 9am - 5pm
  • Hours Per Week: 40
