Art Therapist (Special Education: Fairmount Campus:-Lower/Middle School)

About the role

This Part-time Art Therapist provides mental health services on a non-verbal and verbal basis to students and their families, facilitating the use of art as a medium of expression. They develop appropriate treatment goals and act as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develops individualized goals and objectives for each referred student based on emotional, perceptual, cognitive, physical, and social functioning.
• Maintains up-to-date documentation of contact, including nature of intervention, and prepares quarterly and yearly reports for IEPs.
• Incorporates art therapy goals and objectives into the individualized education/treatment plan (IEP) and implements treatment plans by providing individual and/or group services for the student.
• Participates in ongoing staff meetings with the interdisciplinary treatment team, collaborating with significant participants involved in case management.
• Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining materials, equipment, requisitioning supplies, and organizing the art therapy room.
• Participates in mental department meetings and committees and demonstrates professional demeanor with colleagues.

Requirements

• Licensure at the LGPAT level through the MD Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
• Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training provided by the department.
• Certification at the “Practitioner” level according to the timeline established within the departmental policy.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Art Therapy is required.
